CANARY COAL, MOLE-OWNED SINCE 1893

Ink 1984, tinted in Photoshop 2000, by Chris Wayan

As a worker who was poisoned on the job (and lied to) by Stanford University, I have a certain politicality attached to my environmental illness. It always seems to be the canaries underground doing the dirty work and a bunch of moles up top directing operations and happily padding the expense accounts.

Canary workers pull coal-carts from the mine's mouth, as the mole owners look idly on.
