NATURE DEFIES CONTOUR
48K, 500 x 600. Ink and acrylic painted on with a stick, 14 x 17", by Chris Wayan
I was in a drawing class. Supposed to do a "contour drawing"--just the outlines in pen and ink. A bunch of objects sat on tables.
I got bored, and looked out the window and suddenly saw that nature doesn't go for boundary lines. It's a tangled interpenetrating mess, like society, or my mind.
Continuity, not contour. Continuity drawing.
