Kathleen Raine

Kathleen Raine was a 20th Century poet and biographer of William Blake and W.B. Yeats. She loved India, and Hindu thought infuses her dream-poems. So does Jung--her dreams are full of archetypal symbols and figures. It's both her strength and weakness: to me her Jungian dreams seem literate but ponderous and carefully universal, lacking the quirky individuality of her idols. Still, she's a dreamer who seriously addresses spirituality.

RELATED TOPICS: William Blake - W.B. Yeats - Carl Jung - Emily Dickinson - Robinson Jeffers - Hinduism - See also the full INDEX OF SUBJECTS.
