On and off, I've been dreaming and doodling the wordless story of a nomadic tribe of wildly varied human/horse crossbreeds, not just centaurs but strange beings like this frustrated, chessish unfortunate, who lacks hands. He popped out one day when I was feeling helpless about something and has been haunting me since... muttering, at the back of my brain, "Some have gender; some have hands. Some walk armless on the sands..."
