Centaurs

Centaurs, other humanoid/equine mixes, and a number of variant 'taurs built on similar body plans, like cattaurs, foxtaurs and cheetaurs.

For the Greeks who invented the whole idea, centaurs seemed to have meant animality dominating humanity; though a few centaurs symbolized natural wisdom, most were brutal. Mine seem gentler--but then, I grew up in the 20th Century, whose atrocities are rooted not in animal passion but ideology. Discipline seems safer as a bedroom sport than a public ideal...

So I think my dream-centaurs mean harmony between body and mind. I concede that I draw them more like they're just sex symbols, which they also are for me... but that's not surprising. My self-image is equine--my very first memory is of being a horse, then waking up human, a human child, and my equine dreams have never stopped. I've been, loved, mated with, even married horses. I see and read horses like people, and now and then I've actually forgotten which species I'm talking with. When I meet people with horse auras, I know I've found friends.

So enjoy the pinups, but be aware there's something underneath the sexy fantasies of fusion. Freud was wrong--spirituality isn't always just a mask hiding sex. Sometimes it's the other way round.
