But, Then Life Bites

1983/2/13, felt pen drawing by Wayan

I just saw some Picasso drawings of massive, surreal, vaguely Cubist women running on a beach, and found myself drawing a beach-runner telling how things have gone for me when I go all archetypal and ecstatic.

A surreal woman runs with a banner saying 'But, THEN Life Bites'. Sketch by Wayan. Click to enlarge.
At the time, though, I'd been pretty ill for years--and would be for years more--hence my pessimism. Eventually I figured out what was causing it--by experiment, and despite considerable misdirection from doctors and therapists. Now I'd be more likely to wave a different banner: maybe "Figure It Out, Stupid!"
