"Writing's like choking a camel" said Freud
In my dream--I'm not sure when--

"You got a face fulla camel drool, and
A camel what won't call you friend."

Don't ask me to explain him; Freud
Often has just that blend

Of cryptic and crude. No? Think I made
Up this void Freud? Oh, go back when;

Read his woman-umbrella joke. Call me fraud

TWO NOTES

Writing, frustration: in 1983 I first got disciplined about writing. Averaged 1500 words a day or so. But most of it was crazy dreams that my peers & mentors scorned as unsaleable (true) and thus worthless (false; but back then, no camel called me friend.)
Freud's woman-umbrella joke: in Der Witz und seine Beziehung zum Unbewussten (Wit and its Ties to the Unconscious) Freud quotes this "joke":
"A woman is like an umbrella, at worst one may always take a cab"
He then explains it means one woman can't satisfy a man any more than an umbrella will keep a man fully dry in a rainstorm; but if things get bad, a man can pay for a nice warm taxi--that is, a whorehouse. Freud didn't coin this "joke", but he chose it as his featured example of "cynical wit". I'd call it something else.
