This set of ink drawings shows Toyen's mature style--elegant line and mass, the sensuality of black, and compelling abstract organic shapes I only slowly realized were birds, cats, flowers and people entwined...
Toyen completed and titled the series before inviting her friend Radovan Ivŝić to create a text to fit. I've only seen these excerpts, so I don't know if the collaboration contains any dream content beyond her imagery. Click on pairs of pages below to see close-ups.
