I HELD THE SUN ROSE

1990, reworked 1994. Digital picture by Chris Wayan.

This started as an experiment in technique. I'd set up my paint program to make new colors spread from the hearts of old, forming concentric contours like a topo map. Then I drew a plain gray silhouette: a goddess checking a protostar in the void. Swept my mouse across her, and she BLOOMED! Roses erupted...

After I painted it, I dreamed I was chasing stars with a long-tailed friend, and in the end we caught the Sun.

Tailed Goddess on all fours, with roses blooming from her body, checking a proto-star in the void.
