But sometimes, especially when you hate someone instinctively in a dream, that figure may be all that you reject or deny about yourself--and that means power you've thrown away! The Shadow is one of Jung's most useful concepts. Meeting your own shadow is like mixing matter and antimatter--dangerous, but with vast energy-potential. If you and your shadow can get past your gut-loathing, negotiation may be possible... and almost always wise. For shadow figures often have great force--and they may use it to block you in the waking world, not just in dreams. Making friends may not be easy, but at least try to arrange a truce, as in Auspicious Tractor Hate or Datin' Demon, below. Even if it's a truce where you merely hate each other.
