I was at the beach with my sister Miriel. But I had an errand. I left her reading a big summer novel. An hour later, I return... and the girl sunning on the red blanket is not my sister.

She's not human either. A round-cheeked lion girl. She has an energy/aura nothing like Miriel's at all--rough, humorous, easy-going, sensual. Sexy.

The beach has changed too. No California coastal town above the high-tide line--savanna stretches to the brown hills on the horizon.

Not all has changed; she's still reading, still on the same red blanket, lazing in the sun. For hours! Halfway through that big fat book. Those lion-genes let her enjoy more heat than I could take.

I'm glad she's not my sister. No incest taboo, so I can come on to her.

And I want to. After I sketch her.

• Lion-girl: I looked at Deviantart.com and saw several new furry artists; but I don't recall any picture like this.
• My sister Miriel: We both have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (a mutation causing joint trouble and infections), plus high risk of skin cancer; so I think Miriel in the dream symbolizes our shared fragility. We've each felt married to illness; sucks time and energy, stunting friendships & love.
• Not my sister, vigorous, lion/lyin' in the sun: when I got ill, I craved sunlight, but, cancer-prone, I couldn't sunbathe like the lion-girl. So I took megadoses of Vitamin D. I got less infections & quit craving the sun. But recently, to placate doctors, I cut back on D. Infections bloomed. This dream's a warning!
• Sexy: well, health is. And the sexiness made me draw the dream, and to draw it, I had to dwell on it... and see it's really about the Sunshine Vitamin.
• ACTION 1: Ignore my doctors; conventional wisdom's often wrong for EDS patients. Raise Vitamin D till infections fade again.
• ACTION 2: Sketch her!
• ACTION 3: Meet her? Well, that's hard. But I can do my best to become her.
