THE MARE YELLED "I CHOOSE!"

I dreamed a black mare was shouting unhappily "Nohor! Nohor! I choo!" At first we thought she was saying she wasn't just a simpleminded horse, which was self-evident; but at last we understood she meant "No whore!"

Humans had been saying about her that she was a simple animal that went into heat and let anyone fuck her.

It hurt her terribly. She was insisting "I choose!" who her lovers were--and other things too. Because animals may be instinct-driven, but people, of whatever species... people choose.
