I meet a man-size squirrel. Up comes the Humanities Committee. All thumbs.     Chairman scolds the squirrel for     being squirrelly. "Why, you're Unproductive half the time, ya bums!" Hibernator snickers "So?     We at least have some     productive times to show!" Incisive truth. Go on, name one good a Committee's ever done.

• Squirrels, productivity: Just saw a documentary--wild turkeys played with squirrels, teasing each other. Our naturalist narrator seemed so surprised adult creatures play! "This clearly isn't survival-related." But he admitted "They seem to have more fun than I do."

  My slow dreaming does give me squirms of guilt. But what's repentance ever sung, painted, built?

• ACTION: Let myself lie fallow. Go play!
