A giantess in her mid-teens is already over 3 meters tall, and may grow near 4. She recently left home, found a promising site, and has started growing her own living woodstone castle, as giants do.

A squad of human cops attack her, bind her, put her on trial! Accuse her of the usual giant lifestyle: to make her castle an inn, and eat the travelers she lures in. Her defense lawyer points out "She's young and her castle's half-grown, barely big enough for her so far; she hasn't lured anyone, has no way to. The prosecution's urging punishment for crimes they admit she hasn't committed."

Seems unfair--but the prosecution says "It's not about her. What of the public? Surely the state doesn't have to tie its own hands while a serial killer sets up shop, and wait till after she's eaten someone."

But the young giantess ignores both prosecutor and her own state-appointed lawyer. She stands up--in her homegrown dress of vines, for giants grow their clothes as well as homes--speaking on her own behalf. And then does something unheard of--calls other teenage giants to testify as character witnesses!

Normal giants have no friends, for economic reasons; solitary predators need to enforce territorial boundaries. Like tigers, they hunt alone.

But she's a true radical--an ethical non-cannibal who only eats animals. She plans to raise sheep, cattle and chickens. That's as close as she can get to vegetarianism; for giants are obligate carnivores. Still, as someone farming not hunting, she's no threat to other giants' territories--and thus can have real friends. Revolutionary!

Her giant peers testify "All your human talk of propensity and public safety versus innocence due to lack of opportunity... that's beside the point. She won't kill humans because she's chosen not to."

And her friends are watching closely. If she's allowed to grow her ranch, her peers will try it too. They are killers by nature. But they can choose not to kill people. If people let them!

• Young giant, still growing: No giants in my life. An inner trait that looks outsized to normal folks but still hasn't reached full growth in me? If so, what?
• Teenage girl: when I passed our local gym, some teen gymnasts were practicing on bars. Could the giantism mean their talent or skill, still developing?
• Sexy, living clothes--homegrown: gymnasts' skills again? Sexy! I felt guilty just for glancing at them. But in gymnastics, like dance, showing off your body's part of it.
• The trial: on Matlock, a gay firefighter's harassed; it escalates till his airhose is cut. The fire-captain failed to stop the saboteurs; he was distracted, fighting cancer. If fired for negligence, he'll lose healthcare: a death sentence. So if co-workers testify, confirming his neglect, they'll kill their friend and mentor. (The show failed to point out this dilemma could only happen in America, with health insurance tied to your job. Insane system!)
• Obligate carnivore on trial: guilt over meat? Tonight I went out for Lao food with friends--mostly vegetarian, but a little meat. I have a rare genetic syndrome making veganism impossible--I get sick in days. So I make guilty compromises--dairy, eggs, animals with no central brain (like oysters & clams)... and occasional oily deepwater fish because that reduces my allergies and inflammation. (No, flax oil is not enough.)
• ACTION: Be mindful, limit animal products to what I need to stay healthy. But no stricter. I'm not obliged to commit suicide by diet! Tolerate experimentation: other teen giants inside me are watching. And growing.
