Lions
Dreamed November 1968? by Minnie Evans
A mysterious mandala. I think we're either looking down at a dinner table where two apparently vegan lions feast, as typical Evans angels hover... or looking down at the world from heaven, again with angels attending and lions presiding, because... why not?
Minnie had dreams and visions from age four, but did no art until age 46, and rarely signed, dated or added titles until her sixties or seventies. But she lived to 95 and went back through her work, adding signatures, dates (or her best guess) and occasionally titles (not many). Was this one dreamed in 1968, or is it a childhood dream she waited half a century to paint?
