This is a great example of a reverse Freudian dream. Ordinary objects have no hidden sexual meaning here! Instead, blatant sexual shenangans warn of a basically nonsexual problem--my friends & I needed to be knocked out of trances, needed, as Kay puts it, to have some sense knocked into our cunts--even if it hurt. Ann Faraday argues in Dream Power and The Dream Game that dreams use often sex to illustrate nonsexual issues because it makes sense to us, it's rarely dull, and it sure gets the waking mind's attention.
This one sure got mine.
