Out-of-body dreams and experiences. Personally, I feel there's not much difference between such experiences and apparently psychic dreams in which you get information about the real world. In both types of dream, your consciousness appears to shift from your physical body to somewhere else...

But many other dreamers make a sharp distinction between these, based on whether they feel their dream-body or spirit rise from their sleeping phsyical body, and leave it, roaming off, exploring...

What's more, an out-of-body experience can happen inside a dream--you can observe yourself. Educational, if not always comfortable...
