Below are examples of apparent ESP, mostly dreams. I stick to data here, not theory--I don't propose any explanations for such dreams. Data first, theory later. So with that in mind:

If you're working alone, the easiest sort of psychic dream to look for is precognition (predictive dreams). A detailed journal is the key here, and not just of dreams: where you go and who you meet, what books you read and shows you see.

While the classic Rhine cards used to test ESP are normally employed with a tester and a subject, you can test for ESP alone, by guessing at face-down playing cards and the like. I find (again, I'm not proposing a theory to explain it, just reporting data) that a busy, agitated mind (i.e. most of us most of the time!) pretty much guarantees near-random scores; a still mind picks up odd impressions (with a distinctive feel to them) that push scores above random--mine, at least. Strong feelings, unlike thoughts, don't necessarily interfere: they can generate runs of high or low scores! (See RHINE CHECKERS).

An interesting variant of these psychic calisthenics, a variant that tests for a subtle form of telekinesis, is to try to influence the "random" hands dealt in computer games such as solitaire. Hey, if you're a bored office worker, why not engage in a bit of scientific research? Your boss will be so glad you did.

If you have friends who are into dreams or you belong to a dream-group, then telepathic or shared dreams become practical to track. Caution: in my experience it's not that hard to catch apparent telepathic or shared dreams, but it can be hard to cope with the emotions they stir up. Even dreamers who think they can handle it may have eruptions of fear, loathing, disorientation, guilt, panic, stony denial... Shared dreams can feel like a boundary violation even if asked for. And predictive dreams can bring up fears of predestination and lack of free will.

I'm convinced these fears are cultural brainwashing--after all, if your sleeping mind can handle ESP without flipping out, surely you can while awake, too! But in practice, it stresses many people. That stress, I believe, is the real reason parapsychology is still generally looked down on as pseudoscience. Patient dreamworkers can (with no equipment but a careful journal) easily prove current physics inadequate; what's hard is facing results that are deeply upsetting on a personal level. A lot of us don't really want to live in a magical world, with the lack of privacy it implies; we're motivated to deny evidence that we do. Keep that in mind as you consider these dreams! They have their own concerns; they're not necessarily out to smash your worldview. Necessarily.

The mere possibility dreams may sometimes be psychic complicates interpretation--already a can of worms! Clearly many dreams are about inner situations and are metaphorical, but if some pick up external information and need to be taken more literally as warnings or prompts, how can you tell? Not easy. But I'd like to propose one sort of dream to look at as potentially psychic: dreams actually mentioning ESP in them. My own dreams mentioning telepathy often do echo what a friend is going through; dreams mentioning prediction or set in the future often do predict something. An infrequent type, but useful: call them self-flagging dreams.
