Tehura and Aline are on the brink of the seacliffs in Sutro Park, above the Cliff House and Seal Rocks, looking out at the Farallones ('cliffs' in Spanish, not 'far alone', though they are that too; and Tehura will soon be heading out that way).

Tehura thinks the symbols for love we call “hearts” are stylized labia. Another of Tehura’s smutty misinterpretations? Nope! The joke's on us this time. She’s quite right. The early Church couldn’t stamp out this sexual symbol, so they euphemized it as a "heart" not a "cunt" (much as they declared unicorns meant celibacy, not sex) and the false name stuck. Yep, we draw engorged genitalia on Valentine's Day cards... but then, even flowers are just plant genitals and we SNIFF those. What a weird, scratch-and-sniff planet it is...
