SPECIAL DAYS

Dreams that check your calendar--marking anniversaries (whether of births, deaths, weddings, triumphs and tragedies, private or public); and dreams on holidays marking time-cycles, such as New Year's Eve, the solstices and equinoxes, and national or religious holidays. Oh, and dreams of holidays you never heard of before. My favorite below is probably Cops Go Naked Day. All in favor say aye...

Some dreams don't mark public holidays, solstices, equinoxes and so forth, but private anniversaries. These prove that dreams do keep track of the date: I've even had some that clearly refer to other dreams that happened exactly one year before--or several years before, on the same date. The idea (common in sleep research) that the dreaming mind is disordered, improvising in the moment, basically primitive... isn't always true.
