Dreams of child sexuality, sexual precocity, and under-age sex; also dreams of adult pedophilia or pedophilic feelings.

This is one of those taboo themes in dreams, like sacrilege or racism, that makes people cringe. Just remember--dreams mean things. A dream of your child having sex may indeed be warning that some kind of sexual experimentation's going on, but it could just as well be a warning that something in your life is happening too soon, dangerously fast--and shocking you certainly gets your attention, doesn't it? On the other hand, dreaming of sex with a kid you know may express real pedophilic feelings; yet dreams constantly point out suppressed feelings--it's just information, nothing to panic over. And such dreams aren't always about sex at all--if that kid means calculus or brattiness or courage to you, your dream may be simply warning you're "getting in bed with" that symbolic thing--for good or ill. A sex dream about a child you've never met might be warning you've underestimated how much you love something that's both taboo AND new to you--an underage figure neatly conveys both at once--if you don't recoil in horror and refuse to look at possible meanings. Admittedly, it's easier to spot such symbolic dreams about adult figures--they're less threatening. Mood and context reveal a lot. Dreams DO want to communicate, after all, but they're more casual about primal images than our conscious minds, which are dangerously literal at the best of times--and this is close to the worst! Right now, taboo sex of any kind is a political and religious minefield. But dreams often ignore public trends.

Recurring dreams of hurting kids are a fire alarm that needs to be heeded. Recurring dreams of BEING victimized are equally urgent. They may be literal memories surfacing, or emotions arising from such abuse... but often, they warn of abuse (not always sexual, and not always involving kids) happening right now, that you've overlooked--but your unconscious hasn't. Again, the context will guide you. Dreams don't tell you what you already know. They try to show you what you don't--things in your blind spot. Usually, uncomfortable things in your blind spot.
